A cold compress to relieve pain and swelling 1 cup cold water 3 drops Chamomile essential oil 3 drops Hyssop essential oil 2 drops Cypress essential oil piece of flannel, or wash cloth plastic wrap towel bowl Add cold water to the bowl. Add the essential oils and stir well to disperse. Soak flannel cloth in the aromatic water. wring out the cloth to where it is very moist but not dripping wet. Apply to the affected joint. Lay a sheet of plastic wrap over the moist compress and then the towel. Alternatively, put an ice pack over the plastic wrap to keep it cool longer. Once the compress has been on for a duration of 15 to 20 minutes.This may be repeated two to three times per day for severe arthritic pain and swelling.
