2 cups Peanut Oil, Olive Oil, or Almond oil

1 Tbsp Hydrous Lanolin

1 Tbsp Vitamin E Oil

1 Tbsp dried Lavender Flower

1 Tbsp dried Rose Petals

1 Tbsp dried Chamomile Flower

3 Tbsp dried Rosemary Flower

1/4 tsp tincture of Benzoin

Fill jar loosely with the herbs. Slowly pour benzoin tincture over herbs

and then add the oil. Make sure all of the air bubbles are out. Fill oil

to within an inch of the top of the jar. Close the jar. In summer, put

this jar in the sun for about five days. In the winter, place the jar in

the sun for fifteen days. Shake each day.

At the end of the allotted time, during the very hot part of the day,

slowly drizzle the oil through a fine mesh strainer into a funnel at the

mouth of a small, sterilized bottle. Press the herbs as you go along.

Repeat the straining process until the oil is free of herbs.

Herbal Lore

The name "salvia"comes from the Latin root word for salvation. Sage earned this name because it was considered so powerful a remedy that if could save people from illness and even death. The Romans called sage, "herba sacra" or sacred herb.

Wise Tips

Choose only the best leaves and flowers for drying, and discard any that are going brown, or have been damaged by insects. Snip off the leaves and flowers carefully with scissors to avoid damaging the plant. Gather your herbs on a day without rain so the leaves and flowers dry quickly and are less likely to go mouldy.
