How To Make An Infusion

How To Make An Infusion How To Make An Infusion

Another word for infusion is tea. Infusions are used for drinking herbs as medicine, not as a thirst-quencher. To make an infusion, use the softer parts of the herb that grows above the ground (stems, leaves, flowers) that have been properly dried.  Usually one would use 1 to 3 teaspoons of the herb to 1 cup of water. You can't store infusions for very long, so it's best to use it right away.

Home Medications and Cures fHome Medications and Cures for Cataractor Cataract

Cataract is a common eye condition and not a disease. A cataract is a clouding of the lens in the eye that affects vision. Most cataracts are related to aging, making cataracts very common in older people. By age 80, more than half of all Americans either have a cataract or have had cataract surgery.  A cataract can occur in either or both eyes. It cannot spread from one eye to the other. Cataract surgery is quite common and relatively simple surgery. The cloudy lens is replaced with an artificial lens.

Certain nutrients have also been found useful in cataract. Experiments have shown that animals develop cataract if deprived of pantothenic acid and amino acids, and tryptophane and vitamin B6 needed for tryptophane assimilation. The diet of the cataract patient should, therefore, be high in vitamins B2 and B6, as well as the entire B complex group, pantothenic acid, vitamins C, D, E and other nutrients.

Cataract diet

Fruits and vegetables are high in antioxidants. The antioxidants most clearly linked to cataract prevention are vitamins A, C, and E, and the mineral, selenium. Many studies show that as consumption of these antioxidants goes up, risk of cataracts goes down.

The patient should avoid white bread, sugar, cream, refined cereals, rice, boiled potatoes, puddings and pies, strong tea or coffee, alcoholic beverages, condiments, pickles, and sauces.
